Hostas

Weekend Project

I built a shed. Needs a roof, but for a weekend project I think I got pretty far. I used recycled dog ears from the fence that fell, an 1880's black ebony door knob & plate from ebay, an old door from the remodel, an old vinyl window in the back, and two antique windows.

Where should I throw this out?

"Where should I throw this out?" Nana asked at last nights party for my son's 5th birthday, while holding a plastic container of cherry tomatoes. Tomato in the compost, plastic in recycle was my obvious response... but I think she was a bit shocked.

Needless to say, we have an overgrown compost pile outside, not very close to the house, that Ive decided to start back up. I grew weary of having a produce bag on the counter & decided to use my other vase for the compost (as I did with the other for Coffee grounds). Its working out well and we didn't have to purchase anything new.

I need plans on how to better my compost pile though. As I said its over grown, and honestly hard for me to care for. Ill take photos and post later. Perhaps someone will have a suggestion or two.

Dream garden gets closer to reality

We Found the perfect gate for the dream garden. On Craigslist no less. Its cast iron, 58 inches tall from the bottom of post to top of arch, 42 inches wide from post to post with bolt action locking/closing mechanism. Doors swing both ways. She came from historic St. Louis Gaslight Square.
